Circa 1910's souvenir kerchief/bandana printed on thin cotton with portraits of Allied leaders, including (from upper left corner, clockwise): King George V; Viceroy of India; Mikado; at the center: Lord Kitchener; General French; Gr Duke Nicholas; General Joffre; at the right: King of Servia; Czar of Russia; General Botha; below this, additional generals' portraits adorn the right, bottom and left borders.
A cavalry charge and an artillery attack are also illustrated. At the center is an illustration of a piece of note paper with red seals on it, with facsimile signatures of the Generals, and the motto Our Word Our Bond on a banner beneath. The Australian War Memorial holds a copy of this exact same antique handkerchief listed in their collection.
Nicely time worn and patinated. Has small stains and holes at the top corners where it likely hung from a wall. Amazing period piece.
