Offered for sale is a beautiful antique EAPG glass BUTTER DISH, made by Tarentum. The pattern name is HARVARD, aka Harvard Yard. It was introduced in 1897. The pattern has a deeply pressed design of large and small diamonds, with smooth curved arches between them. It is decorated with bright metallic gold. The glass is thick and heavy.
The butter dish stands approx 6 tall to the finial knob. The base plate is about 8 in diameter and the lid measures 5-1/2 in diameter (OD).
It is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, cloudiness or discoloration, but the gold decoration shows some wear typical of an item over 100 years old.
