Very handsome antique ruby stained domed glass butter dish, made circa 1900-1910. The dome top has a wide ruby band and a narrow ruby band, a circle of small thumbprints and a solid ball finial with an ornamental top. The clear underplate has beaded scalloping going around the rim and a starburst center. This piece has a very classic, elegant presentation.
Antique ruby stained glass had the red color painted on clear glass, then the piece was refired so the stain fused with the glass.
Measurements when put together: 5 1/2 high, 7 3/8 wide
Condition: Good, with a couple minor small chips (see last 2 pics.) Ruby stain is 99.999% intact. A couple flea bites to trim on finial.
