This fedora from the 1940s' has a flat top crown surrounded by a wide, folded black grosgrain band which ends in a large bow at the back. The brim is bent down at the back, where it is supposed to be close to the head. There is a large black ostrich feather extending from the bow to the front, where it cascades over the brim. A stunning look! Thesis an elastic band attached to the inside to hold the hat in place. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war and on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling and artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, but there is a Consumer's Protection Label stating size 23.This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Mannequin not for sale.
